Purple Mountain Majesty

Over Labor Day weekend the three of us went to Crested Butte. It's one of our favorite Colorado spots. Nola has been there once during ski season, but never in the summer. You can see she enjoys getting out much more than having cabin fever in the winter.
We hiked 3 hard hikes, one each day. One by a river, one up a 12,500 ft. peak WITH Nola Bea on Zack's back - and the last hike was an incline of ancient aspens, some of which were beginning to change colors already! Would you believe we forgot our camera on the last hike? We're planning to go back at the beginning of October to see the Aspens change in full color! Click on the photos to see a larger view.

Nola rides her first ski lift!!! And notice the red "danger cliff" sign, yikes!

Zack at the summit of the 12,500 Mt. Crested Butte! We did a lot of rock scrambling at this point. Then Nola fell asleep. Maybe it was the altitude. What a trooper.

The town of Crested Butte was decked out with a street fair and flags everywhere.
Americana indeed.
